AMAZON PEOPLE INSTITUTE

We are a non-profit organization with a mission to promote regenerative family farming in the Amazon through Agroforestry Systems (AFS). Our role is to coordinate a support and training network for farmers, empowering them to grow stronger, increase their income, and improve their quality of life — while restoring the land and protecting nature. Our work is grounded in a new economic model, rooted in the bioeconomy and built on inclusive and regenerative rural value chains, where small and large players coexist and strengthen one another.

Protecting the Amazon is only possible if local communities are part of the solution. People are either agents of degradation or of restoration.

INCLUSION, PROSPERITY, AND A THRIVING FOREST

We aim to bring opportunities and tools to local farming families so that their relationship with the land is both productive and sustainable—respecting the environment, drawing on the wisdom of nature itself, and ensuring more secure income generation. In doing so, we also help build prosperity for future generations.

THE VISIONARIES BEHIND THE DREAM

Andrea Mendonça de Carvalho & Eduardo Faria de Carvalho, founders of Amazon People, have always shared a deep passion for socio-environmental projects with the power to transform lives. They are also united by a genuine concern for the land, firmly believing in regenerative agriculture and the sustainable use of forest resources.

Their inspiration came from Agropalma’s family farming program, envisioned in the early 2000s by Eduardo’s grandfather, Mr. Aloisio Faria. After witnessing firsthand the program’s positive impact on people’s lives, Andrea and Eduardo decided to take it a step further — replicating the successful model while incorporating a key element: regenerative agriculture through Agroforestry Systems (AFS).

Following 18 months of in-depth research and dialogue with farmers, communities, partners, investors, and supporters, Amazon People was officially born — with the unconditional support of the Carvalho Family, including the philanthropic funding needed to launch the project.
